Malaysia - Installation of Yang Di-Pertuan Agong IV - Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Jawi: يڠ د-ڤرتوان اڬوڠ) is the head of state of Malaysia. The office was established in 1957 when the Federation of Malaya (now Malaysia) gained independence from the United Kingdom. Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy with anelected monarch as head of state. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is one of the few elected monarchs in the world. The consort of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is called the Raja Permaisuri Agong (Queen Lady Consort). The couple are respectively addressed in English as "His Majesty" and "Her Majesty".
