Fürstentum Liechtenstein - Chinese Signs of the Zodiac : Monkey (2015) MS MNH
The Chinese culture is one of the oldest in the world’s history and fascinates with its diversity. One part of this is astrology and the twelve signs of the zodiac. The year 2016 (8 February 2016 to 27 January 2017) will be ruled by this humanlike mammal.
People born in the Year of the Monkey are considered intelligent, clever and flexible. They are very inventive and are therefore able to solve most problems easily. Astrologers from the Far East say those born in the Year of the Monkey have common sense and have a thirst for knowledge.
The motif of the special stamp was designed as a delicate paper cut and produced using ultramodern laser technology. The designer Stefan Erne chose the colour red, the symbol for luck in China, for the special commemorative sheetlet comprising four identical stamps. All the prints are affixed in high-grade gold foil embossing. The 4-stamp sheetlet is also cut in the shape of a monkey.
Paid CHF 19.00 at the Tourist Office when the official market value was only CHF 7.60
If you are in Liechtenstein, avoid buying from the Tourist Office and go to the Filatelie office or PostMuseum which is in the same row as the Tourist Office.
