Dataran Pahlawan, Melaka.
Malacca has been selected to host an international stamp exhibition of four Asean countries involving Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand at the Stamp Museum in Bandar Hilir here in October.
Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said this was in line with Malaysia’s role as Chairman of Asean this year, as well as the proposal to make Malacca a philatelic city.
“Malacca was chosen to host this exhibition as it has the only Stamp Museum in the country. The dates for the exhibition have not been fixed as we are leaving it to Pos Malaysia Bhd, Philatelic Society of Malaysia and the Malacca Government to decide,” he said after the launch of the 175th anniversary of Penny Black, the first adhesive stamp issued in the world recently.
