Christmas seals are labels placed on mail during the Christmas season to raise funds and awareness for charitable programs. They have become particularly associated with lung diseases such as tuberculosis, and with child welfare. Christmas seals are regarded as a form of cinderella stamp in contrast with Christmas stamps used for postage.

CHRISTMAS SEAL 2015

On October 28, 2015, Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the presentation of the Christmas Seal for 2015 at the City Hall of Copenhagen, Denmark. The Christmas Seal is a specially designed stamp launched each year and sold throughout Denmark as an extra 'seal' in addition to Christmas stamps. The Crown Princess is the patron of the Christmas Seal Foundation (Julemærkehjem).

This year's Christmas seal was designed by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Christmas seal creator Einar Holbøll.
