Folded letter and address written on one side of the folded side.
Original stamp was removed, only one stamp noticeably used. Considering that it was written and posted in August 1871, it is safe to assume that stamps must have been produced before that date and 8 definitive stamps were knonw (apart to and considering that overprinted on India stamps were no longer available).

Dear sir,
We would owe ? receipt of your favor of the 20 ? regarding
to know if we are agreable to undertake the placement of your
champagne wines in this market. We really have so much
chance of introducing these to any considerable consumption than
we ? can give any inducement to you to make shipments
?. Here are some few marks which have a fair sale
such as Mumm's, Bouché's, Albrecht's, Giesler's, ?
beyond which now can almost ?. All of these are
put up in different manners in cases of 1 doz Quarts
or 1 doz Pints. The mode of packing and the character
of ornamentation is quite a matter of minor importance.
The marks just ?ed are well known and generally
of good quality and to require a similar standing in
our market ? take a new brand possibly low(?er)
years of ? ? ? before it came into a paying
reputation. Of ourselves we are really would not undertake
the sale of these wines but would recommend to your
notice the ? of ? ? Little ? as having a highly
respectable ? and being in? a better pos ? to attend to
your interests? here than almost any other we could name
